ABOUT US
To preserve, promote and advance the cultural significance of chess as a game, art, science and
sport, through community outreach and engagement; to inspire, whether in victory or in defeat, the qualities of perseverance, mental resilience, critical thinking, circumspection, courage, discipline, determination, humility, fair play, foresight, passion, creativity and poetic originality, while building self-image and self-esteem, encouraging personal growth, enriching the mind, and cultivating hope, happiness and a sense of fulfillment in people of all ages and backgrounds.
The mission of the Coalition is implemented through three (3) primary programs: (1) Public chess infrastructure advocacy; (2) Umbrella for chess programs of local community groups; and (3) Public school chess curriculum advocacy
Governance
The Street Chess Coalition, Inc., a Florida not-for-profit corporation, is governed and managed in accordance with its Bylaws [insert link to Bylaws] The Board of Directors of the Coalition is responsible for establishing the Coalition’s mission, direction and strategic objectives, while the Executive Director is responsible for managing the day-to-day management and operations of the Coalition. The Comptroller is a certified public accountant (CPA) responsible for managing the Coalition’s finances and ensuring that all financial activities are conducted in a responsible manner. Lastly, the Chair is responsible for shepherding the general operations of the Coalition in accordance with its mission, direction and strategic objectives.

Partners
West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority – The Street Chess Coalition has partnered with the West Palm Beach
Downtown Development Authority to create the first urban chess park in Palm Beach County.
The
Fern Street Chess Park is located in downtown West
Palm Beach at the corner of Fern Street and Dixie Highway. The tables are open to public use at
any time.
West Palm Street Chess – West Palm Street Chess has one
purpose: to have fun. The Street Chess Coalition owes its existence to the community engagement
commenced by West Palm Street Chess, which continues as the premiere social club of the
Coalition.
